TL;DR
- Reaction entry is here: New giveaways are entered by reacting to the giveaway message, not pressing a button.
- No more interaction failures: Reactions do not use Discord's interaction pipeline, so entrants never see the dreaded "This interaction failed" message.
- A more capable giveaway builder: Configure descriptions, linked-server requirements, role rules, multipliers, schedules, templates, and more from a clearer setup flow.
- Higher limits everywhere: Winners, durations, and role-based giveaway rules have all grown substantially on Public, Prime, and Custom bots.
- File uploads for applications: Let applicants attach documents, images, videos, or PDFs directly from a file-upload question in their DMs.
- No disruption to active giveaways: Existing button-based giveaways keep working exactly as they do today until they end.
Giveaways now start with a reaction
The most visible change in 3.0.3 is also the simplest: members enter a new giveaway by reacting with its entry emoji.
That feels native to Discord. The entry emoji is already visible on the message, members can join with one familiar action, and removing their reaction withdraws their entry. When a giveaway ends, Discortics clears the entry reactions so the message does not keep looking open.
Why reactions are better than buttons
The main advantage is immediate clarity: when your reaction is on the giveaway message, you are entered. If it is not there, you are not. Members can tell their entry status in a single look, without opening a button response or wondering whether an interaction went through.
A member reacts and Discortics checks their eligibility in the background. Eligible members keep the reaction; ineligible members have it removed. That also avoids Discord's interaction pipeline, so members do not see "This interaction failed" when a button acknowledgement is delayed. Public and Prime bot users receive a DM when a requirement prevents entry.
There is no change required from staff: choose the entry emoji in /giveaway settings, then create a giveaway as usual. For safety, giveaways created before 3.0.3 retain their existing entry button until they finish.
A fuller giveaway setup
The giveaway module has had a broader pass alongside reaction entry. The create and settings experiences are clearer to move through, while the advanced setup supports the options communities actually need: schedules, templates, eligibility requirements, bypass and blocked roles, role multipliers, public listings, end counts, custom descriptions, and linked-server membership requirements.
The result is a faster path for a simple drop and more control when you are running something bigger. Use /giveaway drop for a quick giveaway, or /giveaway create when you need the full setup flow.
File uploads arrive in Applications
Applications can now ask for files directly in Discord DMs. Add a File question to collect a resume, portfolio, proof of work, image, video, or PDF; choose the accepted file kind and how many files the applicant must provide. Each question accepts 1–10 files, and Discortics checks the selected files before accepting the answer.
| Upload limit | Public | Prime | Custom |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maximum size per file | 2 MB | 10 MB | 50 MB |
| Files per application response | 25 | 50 | 100 |
Uploaded answers are included with the staff-facing logged submission, so reviewers have the supporting material alongside the rest of the response.
Limits that scale with the giveaway
We raised the limits that most often get in the way of larger events. The number of running, scheduled, public, and saved-template giveaways remains generous; 3.0.3 especially expands the size and complexity of each giveaway.
| Capability | Public | Prime | Custom |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maximum winners | 30 | 100 | 200 |
| Maximum duration | 180 days | 1 year | 10 years |
| Required or bypass roles | 20 | 100 | 1,000 |
| Blacklisted roles | 20 | 100 | 1,000 |
| Role multipliers | 20 | 100 | 1,000 |
| Running giveaways | 15 | 30 | 50 |
| Scheduled giveaways | 5 | 10 | 20 |
| Public giveaways | 1 | 5 | 20 |
| Saved templates | 5 | 10 | 20 |
For perspective, Public giveaways can now run for up to 180 days and select up to 30 winners; Prime reaches a full year and 100 winners; Custom reaches ten years and 200 winners. Role-based rules now have room to match the structure of a real community instead of forcing teams to trim their configuration.
Start the next one
Open /giveaway settings to choose the reaction your members will use, then launch with /giveaway drop or build a full event with /giveaway create. The new flow keeps entry simple for members while giving staff more room to run the giveaways their communities deserve.
