3.4.0: Self Roles & Context Actions

Let members pick their interests, notification roles, or teams without asking staff. Discortics 3.4.0 brings reactions, buttons, and dropdowns together in Self Roles, with one editor for the message, role choices, and requirements.

For staff, Context Actions puts moderation, giveaway controls, and verification tools directly on members and messages. Right-click, choose an action, and review changes privately before confirming.

The update also brings a combined statistics command and fixes across the bot.

TL;DR

  • Self Roles: Build reaction, button, or dropdown panels in the dashboard or with /selfroles.
  • Context Actions: Right-click members or messages to moderate, review cases, manage giveaways, or purge a range of messages, with private confirmations for changes.
  • More control: Add and remove several roles per choice, set member requirements, and limit how many roles someone can keep.
  • Statistics: Switch between messages, voice, reactions given, and reactions received in one command.
  • Everyday fixes: Better application delivery, clearer permission errors, verification shortcuts, and more reliable saved settings.

Self Roles, your way

Open Dashboard → Self Roles to create a panel. Choose how members interact with it:

  • Reactions let members pick with emojis, including on an existing message you bind to the panel.
  • Buttons give each choice a label, with an optional emoji.
  • Dropdowns fit up to 25 choices into one menu.

Reaction and button panels support up to 20 items each. You can design the message in the dashboard, save it as a draft, and publish when it is ready. If the published message or channel is deleted, the panel returns to a draft so you can send it again.

Prefer to work in Discord? /selfroles opens the panel manager. The prefix alias ;selectionroles is also available with your server's configured prefix. The Self Roles guide walks through both setup options.

A choice can do more than add one role

Each item can manage several roles. For example, a team choice can add the selected team's role and remove the opposing team's role in the same action.

Choose a default assignment mode for the panel, or override it for individual items:

  • Normal: Selecting adds the configured add roles and removes the remove roles. Deselecting removes the add roles without restoring the others.
  • Bind: Applies the role changes when selected. Deselecting does not undo them.
  • Reverse: Selecting removes the add roles and grants the remove roles. Deselecting reverses both changes.
  • Drop: Removes the configured add roles when selected, without restoring them on deselect.

Buttons and dropdown choices toggle Normal and Reverse items based on the member's current roles. Dropdown options they did not choose stay untouched.

Set Maximum roles per member when a panel should limit how many roles someone keeps. It counts distinct add roles from Normal and Bind items. When a new choice exceeds the cap, earlier items in panel order make room for it. Reverse and Drop items do not count toward the cap.

Requirements and limits

Use Restrictions to require or block existing roles, or set minimum account age, time in the server, message count, voice time, or message level. Requirements apply when granting roles; members can still remove roles without meeting them.

Self Roles is available on every tier:

Discortics needs Manage Roles and a bot role above the roles it assigns. Managed roles, @everyone, and roles with elevated moderation or administrative permissions cannot be assigned through a self-role panel. If a role gains unsafe permissions later, the bot refuses to grant it.

Context Actions for staff

Right-click a member or message and open Apps for moderation actions such as Warn, Mute / Unmute, Timeout, Kick, Softban, Ban, and Cases. Message actions target the author. Changes open a private review panel where you can adjust the reason and applicable duration before confirming.

Message menus also include Giveaway End, Giveaway Reroll, and Purge until Here. Giveaway actions update the original post without an extra channel announcement. Purge previews the eligible range, skips messages outside Discord's bulk-delete age limit, and excludes messages posted after you opened the action.

Prime and Custom add Verify Request and Whitelist to member menus. Staff can send verification instructions or choose the applicable Verification and Autopilot whitelist modules. Log action menus use the same private confirmation flow and create a new audit case while preserving the original log.

Permissions, command access, and role hierarchy are checked again before an action runs. See the moderation guide for setup and access rules.

One place for user activity

/statistics now brings Messages, Voice, Reactions Given, and Reactions Taken together. Pick an initial view with module, then use the dropdown to switch while keeping the same member selected.

Prefix users can run ;stats, ;stats vc, or ;stats rgiven @member. Today, week, month, and total values stay together with the applicable previous-period comparisons. Read the statistics guide for the full set of views.

More changes in 3.4.0

  • Applications: Form descriptions support up to 2,000 characters. Temporary log-delivery failures preserve submissions for retry, stale permission data gets a fresh check, and single accept/deny decisions start the applicant DM sooner. Prefix response deletion moves from ;delete to ;adelete (alias ;adel); slash remains /application delete.
  • Verification: Members can use /verify for a private response or ;verify for a Verify button. Settings and whitelist management use /verification. Deleted auto roles no longer prevent completion when no configured roles remain.
  • Giveaways: Editing reuses the creation controls for roles and requirements. Cleared requirements stay cleared across tabs and Apply, and temporary lookup failures are handled more carefully.
  • Autopilot: Stale cached permission denials are checked with Discord before disabling protection. Channel exemptions support voice and stage chats, and pending actions for departed members can resume on rejoin.
  • Vanity roles: Going offline or receiving an unreadable or empty custom status retains rewards. A readable, nonempty status that no longer matches removes them.
  • Economy: Staff Add Money credits the personal bank; Remove Money uses cash first, then the personal bank. Finished interactions clear stale controls, and roulette handles bet input more consistently.
  • Memes: /fun meme adds categories including Gaming, Wholesome, Programming, Anime, and History.
  • Setup and reliability: Permission errors identify the affected destination and verified missing permissions. Deleted-channel handling, saved-settings refreshes, invite replacement, and background recovery have also received fixes.

Start with Dashboard → Self Roles to build your first panel, then try Apps on a member or message to explore Context Actions. Test role choices with a member account and review staff access before opening them to your server.
