Welcome, Leave, and Autorole Guide

The Welcome and Leave tools send a saved message when a member joins or leaves. Autorole gives selected roles when a member joins or after they pass verification.

These features belong to the Settings module, but they work together as one member-join workflow.

Before You Begin

You need Manage Server to configure these settings.

Discortics needs View Channel, Send Messages, and Embed Links in each message channel. Autoroles also require Manage Roles. Place the Discortics role above every role it should assign. Managed integration roles and roles above the bot are ignored.

Create a saved message with /settings embed or Dashboard → Embeds before setting up a custom welcome or leave message. The Discord settings panels also offer built-in templates.

Configure Autoroles

Run /settings autorole.
Select Manage Roles.
Select every role new members should receive, up to your tier limit.
Return to the main panel and confirm that every role has a check mark.
If roles should wait, open Dashboard → Settings → Autorole and enable Delay Until Verified. Then follow the Verification guide to create the gate.

The role selection replaces the current autorole list. Deselect a role to remove it from future assignments.

When Roles Are Assigned

By default, Discortics assigns autoroles when a member joins. Enable Delay Until Verified under Dashboard → Settings → Autorole when members should receive them only after a successful captcha or password check.

Whitelisted verification users skip the gate and receive autoroles immediately.

Important: Autorole delay is controlled in Dashboard → Settings → Autorole. The Delay button inside /settings welcome delays the welcome message, not the roles.

Clear Deleted Roles

If an autorole was deleted from Discord, /settings autorole marks it as a deleted role. Select Clear Deleted to remove missing roles from the configuration without changing valid roles.

Reset Autoroles

Select Reset, then confirm Yes to clear every configured autorole.

Warning: Reset stops future autorole assignments. It does not remove roles already given to members.

Create a Welcome Message

Run /settings welcome.
Select Channel and choose a text or announcement channel.
Select Message.
Choose a saved embed or one of the default templates.
Select Preview to check the message privately.
Optional: select Delay if the welcome message should wait until verification succeeds.
Return to the main panel and enable the message with the status button.

Each Discord change saves immediately.

Choosing a default template creates a saved embed named Welcome: <template name>. Open /settings embed to customize it later. The configured welcome message stores its own snapshot, so reselect the saved embed after editing when you want the welcome message updated.

Create a Leave Message

Run /settings leave.
Select Channel and choose a text or announcement channel.
Select Message.
Choose a saved embed or a default farewell template.
Select Preview.
Return to the main panel and enable the message.

Choosing a template saves it as Leave: <template name> for later editing.

Leave messages are sent for member departures. They can be used as a public goodbye or a private staff departure log.

Message Options

Status

The first button enables or disables the selected welcome or leave message. Disabling keeps the channel and saved payload.

A message needs all three items before it can send: enabled status, a valid channel, and a configured payload.

Channel

Choose one text or announcement channel. Changing the channel affects future messages only.

Message

Choose one saved embed or a built-in template. Welcome and leave messages require exactly one embed, with optional plain content above it.

The Discord panel lists up to 25 saved embeds. Select Clear to remove the current message payload without deleting the saved embed itself.

Preview

Preview renders the selected message with sample values and sends it as an ephemeral response visible only to you. Preview does not post in the configured channel.

Delay Welcome Until Verified

Enable Delay in /settings welcome to hold the welcome message until verification succeeds. This delay takes effect only while Verification is enabled.

This setting is separate from delayed autoroles. You can delay either feature, both features, or neither.

Variables

Select Variables in the Discord panel to see supported names. Add variables anywhere inside the embed or its plain message content using {{variable.name}}.

Common member and server variables:

Invite tracking variables are available when Discortics can identify the join or leave source:

Unknown values render as empty text. Read the Invite Tracking guide before depending on invite variables.

Dashboard Workflow

Open Dashboard → Welcome & Leave to select saved embeds, channels, and enabled status. Welcome also includes Delay until verified.

The Dashboard has a separate Send test action:

Save all pending changes.
Enable the message and select a channel and embed.
Select Send test.
Check the configured channel.

Dashboard tests are disabled while changes are unsaved. The Dashboard uses a snapshot of the selected embed. If the saved embed is later deleted, the message can retain its snapshot, but you must select another saved embed to replace it.

Autoroles are configured under Dashboard → Settings → Autorole. The Dashboard prevents enabling delayed autoroles unless Verification is already enabled.

Reset Welcome or Leave

Select Reset in the matching Discord panel, then confirm. Reset disables the message and removes its channel, payload, and delay setting.

Warning: Reset cannot be undone. It does not delete the saved embed or messages already posted in Discord.
