Stop mass mentions with separate user, role, and channel thresholds.

Mention Protection blocks messages that ping too many users, roles, or channels. Set a total limit and separate limits for each mention type.

Set up mention protection

Configure from the DashboardSet limits above the largest legitimate message in your server.
  1. Open Dashboard → Moderator → Autopilot → Anti-Mention.
  2. Enable the protection.
  3. Review the separate mention limits.
  4. Set the limits and @everyone behavior.
  5. Add required exceptions.
  6. Save and test safely.

Mention protection limits in the Dashboard

Configure with /autopilot antimentionSet limits for each mention type.
  1. Run /autopilot antimention.
  2. Select Enable.
  3. In Config, review the total, user, role, and channel mention limits.
  4. Use each limit’s Manage button to enter and save its value.
  5. Review Punishments and configure exceptions in Whitelist.

The Anti-Mention settings panel

AntiMention always checks individual mention types. There is no mode selector, including for previously saved Simple settings. Mention Raid Protection optionally adds Discord's native mention filter; the local limits still apply when it is off.

Mention limits

Set separate values from 1 to 50 for:

  • Total Mention Limit: combined user, role, and channel mentions.
  • User Mention Limit: unique mentioned users.
  • Role Mention Limit: unique mentioned roles.
  • Channel Mention Limit: unique mentioned channels.
  • Everyone Allowed: whether @everyone and @here may pass.

The Everyone Allowed setting controls whether @everyone and @here are accepted. Administrators bypass local message checks.

Exceptions

Ignored users, roles, channels, and categories bypass local Mention Protection. Category exemptions include child channels and their threads. Ignored mentioned users and roles are also removed from their matching counts.

Pick safe limits

Review normal announcement and staff messages before choosing a value. A total limit of 5 may be suitable for a chat server but too low for an event channel that regularly mentions several roles.

Test just above and below the selected limit with a non-administrator account.

Punishments

Open Punishments to configure Warn, Mute, Timeout, Kick, Softban, or Ban. The first action may be any punishment; every next action must be unique and strictly stronger. Mute and Timeout are alternatives at the same level, and Ban is the maximum punishment.

Use Enable or Disable beside Everyone Allowed or Mention Raid Protection. Changes save immediately.

Discord native AutoMod supports role and channel/category exemptions, but cannot exempt individual users from its initial block.
