Profanity Protection blocks selected Discord AutoMod word categories before a message is posted. Use the allowlist to fix words that are safe in your server but match a preset.
Set up profanity protection
Configure from the DashboardChoose the word categories and trusted exceptions.
- Open Dashboard → Moderator → Autopilot → Profanity.
- Enable the protection.
- Select the categories you want to block.
- Add trusted roles or channels to the ignored lists only when needed.
- Add known false positives to the allowlist.
- Save and test from a non-administrator account.

Presets
- Profanity: common severe profanity.
- Sexual Content: explicit sexual terms.
- Slurs: common slurs and hateful terms.
All three are selected by default the first time you enable the protection.
Allowlist
The allowlist contains words Discord AutoMod should not block.
- Select Add, then send comma-separated words.
- Each entry may contain up to 60 characters.
- Select Remove to remove named entries.
- Select Reset to clear the complete allowlist.
Add only the exact false positive. A broad allowlist can let unwanted messages through.
Exceptions
Profanity supports ignored roles and ignored channels. It does not support ignored users.
Punishments
Open Punishments to configure Warn, Mute, Timeout, Kick, or Ban. Keep Warn enabled when another action depends on a warning threshold.

Troubleshooting
A safe word is blocked
Add the exact word to the allowlist, then send the test message again from a non-administrator account.
A blocked word is not detected
Confirm its preset is selected, the protection is enabled, and the message's role and channel are not ignored.
